One African-American man involved with NetNoir claims that African-Americans are more interested in communications than math and science and that's why there are few computer scientists. True or false?
False. It is a simplistic answer to a complex question.

That statement makes about as much sense as saying that African-Americans are not interested in skiing. The reasons fewer black people ski are lack of exposure, tradition, access, and cost. The reasons there are few black scientists are analogous.

Also, there are other factors like the lack of role models. I receive up to ten emails a day from visitors to my web site. Many students of African descent have told me that my work has inspired them to become a scientist. Universities should use black professors to inspire black students.
